Day trips: the unique characteristic of the area is the variety of interesting destinations within an hour distance from Galaxidi, combining both a ski resort on the mountains and picturesque coastal villages.
Driving west from Galaxidi to the beautiful and historic town of Nafpaktos, one comes across small seaside fishing villages with beautiful beaches, organized or free, full of taverns and beach bars for your day trips.
Eratini, Agios Nikolaos, Sergoula, Skaloma, Marathias and the wonderful Monastiraki are some of them.
Halfway to Nafpaktos, you come across the port of Glyfa, where you can take a small boat to the picturesque island of Trizonia, for a swim, a coffee or lunch.
There is also an alternative route to the east, for any season, full of many interesting stops. You can start with the historic city of Amfissa, the capital of the prefecture, with its museums and the spectacular castle of Salona and of course the fairytale-like neighborhood of Tabakika. At the nearby village of Chrisso with its folklore museum and the beautiful square with its barbecues you can enjoy a relaxing meal before you go on to explore the world-famous Delphi, the sacred centre of antiquity, with its numerous archaeological sites open to visitors, and the modern Museum.
During the summer months at the nearby Frinihos Theatre many festivals with theatrical productions take place as well as musical performances.
In Delphi you can also visit the European Cultural Centre where ιnternational economic and cultural forums are frequently held.
If you wish you can drive a twenty –minute distance from Delphi to the neighboring cosmopolitan Arachova and further up the mountain to Livadi Parnassos and the surrounding beautiful mountain villages.
Another excursion, ideal for nature lovers, is north of Galaxidi, towards the inland, with the tourist attraction of the artificial lake of Mornos with the dam, Lidoriki with its large square with plane trees, and numerous smaller villages in the surrounding area. One of them is Athanasios Diakos, with its many paths and special routes. In these places, tasting local products is a reason for a trip in itself.

Walking along the port, running and cycling in the pine forest across it are frequent recreational activities in Galaxidi. In recent years it serves as a training ground for many runners.
Photography: Galaxidi is particularly interesting for both amateur or professional photographers, offering wonderful photography themes thanks to its numerous coves which constantly shift the landscape. The much photographed central port leads to the small forest with the Monument of the Sailor’s Wife , while the picturesque port of Hirolakas brings you to the traditional shipyard. The churches of Agia Paraskevi, with the zodiac signs, Agios Nikolaos, the protector Saint of the town, Saint John at the top of the pineforest and the monastery of Sotiras on the mountain, with the best view of Galaxidi are also a delight for the eye.There are also the mansions, buildings of unique architecture in some of which are offered guided tours occasionally.
Fishing: Fishing at one of the Skoules along the pine forest is a wonderful experience because of the physical beauty of the landscape. There are many species of fish such as littorini, melanouri, balas, pike, e.t.c.
Hunting: In the mountainous areas of Fokida, along the mountain chains of Parnassus ,Giona and Iti a great deal of hunting takes place. The most common kind of fona includes hares, boars and various kinds of birds.
Rowing – Sailing: Rowing and sailing not only guarantee an excellent physical exercise, they also provide an attractive spectacle, as it is proved by the frequently organized regattas. Those with a sailboat can sail through the Corinthian Gulf to discover hidden beaches and islets. You may also try water or jet skiing in Galaxidi’s calm waters.
Skiing: In winter, those who enjoy skiing can travel an hour by car to reach the cosmopolitan Parnassus Mountain Ski Resort.
In our town's restaurants, taverns, and ouzo bars, local dishes both traditional and fused are always available for all tastes and preferences.
Nightlife: Galaxidi combines everything... rich past as well as modern entertainment. The three-day Carnival and the "Flour War" on Ash Monday, when the town never sleeps, promise to be the culmination of fun that begins with a drink in one of the trendy bars at the port and ends with the "Flour War."
Galaxidi is also known for some special sweets such as ravani, which is made of rice and amygdalaki, an almond sweet in various forms. The area is also famous for the local lambs, the yogurt and the feta cheese. If you are an art lover you shouldn’t miss the local pottery workshop and gift shop.

place, illustrating the life and naval performance of its inhabitants for five millennia,
from the prehistoric period until the beginning of the twentieth century as a guardian
of the collective memory of the region. It is the oldest Maritime Museum in Greece
with the richest collection of Greek Sailing Vessel Paintings.
